About Our School

It is the mythical, lyrical heart of the ancient Celts that shapes Irish consciousness and art. The ancient traditions are rich in music, mysticism, storytelling and dance.

Today, the old traditions are being carried forward by a beautiful new generation of writers, musicians , choreographers and dancers. These young people represent the Ireland of today: a country alive as never before, finally taking her place as a European leader, forward moving, forward thinking, in the full bloom of economic and cultural prosperity. Their work is fresh, bright and new, yet forever faithful to and steeped in the beauties of the past.

Our mission at Ridgewood Irish Dance to present this vibrant culture in a progressive, non-competitive environment. We believe that atmosphere is everything. Throughout our lives, we all love to return to the experiences that have been joyful, positive and fun. Our goal is to give each student a beautiful cultural experience and a life-long love of Irish Dance, its fun and its joy. The atmosphere is intentionally kept light and informal, but with enough structure to deliver a solid grounding in the fundamentals of footwork and timing, of body position and stage presence.
